Performance
RAM & Memory
Manage and optimize memory usage for your Cafora Minecraft server.
RAM stores all active server data: worlds, players, entities, and plugins. Proper memory management is critical for stability.
Understanding RAM Allocation
Each Cafora plan includes a specific amount of RAM. When your server approaches or exceeds this limit, performance degrades and the server may crash with an Out of Memory (OOM) error.
The MY-L plan provides a fixed memory allocation suitable for standard Minecraft hosting. Monitor your usage in the Pterodactyl Panel.
What Consumes RAM
| Component | Typical Memory Use |
|---|---|
| World data | Depends on world size and player count |
| Loaded chunks | Grows with view distance |
| Plugins | Varies; some are lightweight, others data-heavy |
| Mods | Generally higher than plugins |
| Player data | Player inventories, locations, stats |
| Entities | Mobs, items, and custom entities |
Monitoring RAM
- Check the Pterodactyl Panel for real-time RAM graphs
- Use Spark memory reports for detailed breakdowns
- Watch for memory leak patterns (RAM slowly climbing over hours/days)
Reducing RAM Usage
- Lower view distance in server.properties
- Remove unused plugins or mods
- Use a world border to limit world size
- Clear dropped items periodically
- Optimize entity counts
