SFTP Connection

Connect to your Cafora Minecraft server files via SFTP through the TCPShield-protected entry point.

SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) lets you connect directly to your server's file system using a desktop client. It is faster and more convenient than the web File Manager for bulk uploads, large files, and advanced workflows.

Cafora routes SFTP through TCPShield Sentry, the same protected entry point used for Minecraft. This means file transfers are shielded from DDoS attacks and the origin IP is never exposed.

Getting Your SFTP Credentials

SFTP credentials are unique to each server and can be found in the Pterodactyl Panel:

  1. Open the Pterodactyl Panel
  2. Select your server
  3. Click the Settings tab
  4. Look for SFTP Details — you will see:
FieldDescription
Addresssftp.caforahost.com
Port2022
UsernameA unique username for your server (e.g., username.serverid)
PasswordYour Pterodactyl Panel password

SFTP uses a dedicated hostname (sftp.caforahost.com) instead of the node's FQDN. The node FQDN is reserved for Wings API traffic over Cloudflare Tunnel. See DDoS Protection.

If you change your panel password, your SFTP password updates automatically. Keep your credentials secure.

Connecting with FileZilla

FileZilla is the most popular free SFTP client.

  1. Download and install FileZilla
  2. Open FileZilla and fill in the Quickconnect bar:
    • Host: sftp://sftp.caforahost.com
    • Username: Your SFTP username
    • Password: Your panel password
    • Port: 2022
  3. Click Quickconnect
  4. Accept the host key if prompted

Connecting with WinSCP

WinSCP is a popular Windows SFTP client.

  1. Download and install WinSCP
  2. Open WinSCP and create a new session:
    • File protocol: SFTP

    • Port number: 2022
    • User name: Your SFTP username
    • Password: Your panel password
  3. Click Login
  4. Accept the host key if prompted

Connecting via Command Line

If you have an SSH/SFTP client installed (OpenSSH comes with Windows 10+, macOS, and Linux):

sftp -P 2022 username.serverid@sftp.caforahost.com

Once connected, common commands:

CommandDescription
lsList files
cd <directory>Change directory
get <file>Download a file
put <file>Upload a file
put -r <folder>Upload a folder recursively
rm <file>Delete a file
exitDisconnect

Tip: Use put -r to upload entire plugin or world folders in one command.

Connecting with VS Code

If you use VS Code, the SFTP extension gives you an integrated file browser:

  1. Install the SFTP extension by Natizyskunk
  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+P and run SFTP: Config
  3. Fill in the configuration:
{
  "name": "My Cafora Server",

  "password": "your-password",
  "remotePath": "/",
  "uploadOnSave": false
}
  1. Save the config, then right-click the server in the SFTP sidebar and choose Connect

Key Directories

Once connected, you will see the same file structure as the File Manager:

Troubleshooting

Connection Refused or Timed Out

  • Verify the server is online — SFTP is unavailable when the server is stopped
  • Check that you are connecting to sftp.caforahost.com on port 2022
  • Ensure your firewall is not blocking outbound port 2022

Authentication Failed

  • Verify the username exactly as shown in the panel (it is case-sensitive)
  • Try resetting your panel password from store.caforahost.com

Connection Dropping During Large Transfers

  • Some clients have idle timeouts — enable keep-alive in your client settings
  • Split large transfers into smaller batches
